Don’t miss the 2010-2011 season. Two Timeless Classics One Comedy, One Tragedy: One Unforgettable Season! After a thrilling sold-out Inaugural Season for every performance of La Bohème and The Tender Land, including a standing-room-only performance of Little Red Riding Hood to a packed-house of enchanted children, parents and grandparents, Vashon Opera announces its exciting 2010-2011 Season featuring two of the greatest operas ever written. Gioachino Rossini's rollicking classic, The Barber of Seville (Il barbiere di Siviglia), will kick off the season in September 2010 with two performances at the Vashon High School Theater on September 10th and 12th, 2010. Sung in Italian with English supertitles, The Barber of Seville will feature a hilarious cast of 17th century characters accompanied by enchanting chamber musicians in the intimate setting of Vashon High School's 275 seat theatre. In May 2011, Giacomo Puccini's dramatic Madama Butterfly will soar through the rafters of Vashon's Bethel Church. This beautifully romantic tragedy will be sung in Italian with English supertitles featuring a complete chamber orchestra on May 13th and 15th, 2011. As with the 2009-2010 season's The Tender Land this production will be fully staged within Bethel Church's flexible and intimate space allowing audience members a chance to feel a part of the story. Both productions will feature the wealth of talented Northwest based singers and musicians that Vashon Opera audiences have come to expect. More information at www.vashonopera.org |
