Calling all musicians!

I wanted to reach out to everyone and let you know that if you’re a musician or if you know a musician on the island, anyone as a solo artist or in a band should have some sort of representation on the hottest music site on Vashon Island: http://www.vashonmusic.com

If you have a minute, take a look at the site to see who and what’s happening on the island. The site is maintained by Steve Allen, Kris Bates & myself….me mostly for content and those two guys for the technical aspects….they are the smart ones without a doubt.

We welcome any and all suggestions on how to improve the website….ideas on how to make it easier to navigate and find what you’re looking for, ideas on what we’re missing and might make the site more interesting….whatever….we’d love to hear from you.

We have uploaded many bands and solo artists to the website, but it’s only the tip of the iceberg. There are so many more of you.

If you’re a musician and would like us to include you on the website, by all means let me know by providing me with all or most of the following information:

1. Individual or band name.
2. If a band, I’ll need the correct spelling of everyone’s names.
3. A bio, no more than 1-2 paragraphs.
4. A good digital photo, preferably no more than 450 pixels wide, 400 pixels long if possible. If you’re not able to size it yourself, no worries….send it anyway and I’ll size it correctly.
5. An MP3 of one of your songs, a favorite preferably. If you’re unable to send me an MP3 via email, you can give me a CD with one of your songs that I can use for this purpose...I work off-island and can pick it up anytime on the way home from work. I can return this CD to you once I’ve burned the song and uploaded it.

I don’t have every musicians email by any means, so please….if you know of someone that is not represented on this website, please let them know about it and tell them to get in touch with me. Or put me in touch with them.

Also, if you have shows that are coming up on the island, feel free to shoot me an email ahead of time with all the appropriate info (who, when, where, what time, cover charge, photo, etc etc) and I’ll make sure we post something about it on the main page of the website. We don’t always post this information without someone letting us know about it ahead of time.

My goal is to have every musician on the island represented on the site. Even if I have to travel into the woods to drag it out of the hermits that only come out once in a blue moon to dazzle us with their songs. Some of our best artists rarely come up for air, but when they do……..it’s amazing.

We who live out here on the island are blessed to have the most unique and talented musicians living amongst us. When y’all come out and perform, it creates these special moments in time that many of us will remember for a very long time.

I know that I speak for everyone when I thank you all for what you’ve given us in the past and in the days to come……
